What we collect

• Your email address and, if you give it, your first name — to send the newsletter.
• Consent records — when and how you subscribed (for example, the date you confirmed and a one-way hash of your IP address), so we can prove you asked to receive email.
• Email engagement — whether a tracking image in an email loaded ("opens", which are unreliable) and which links you clicked. We use this to see which topics are useful, to stop emailing inactive addresses, and to give sponsors aggregate click counts.
• Delivery information from our email provider — bounces and spam complaints — so we stop sending to addresses that don't want or can't receive email.
• Messages you send through our contact or advertising forms.

We don't use advertising cookies or third-party analytics on this website. The admin area uses one strictly necessary session cookie.

Who processes it

• Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this website and our database (Cloudflare Workers and D1).
• Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES) delivers our emails.

Both act as our service providers. We do not sell or rent your information, and we never give sponsors your email address or individual activity.

How long we keep it

While you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we never email you again by mistake; other engagement data is deleted or anonymised within 24 months. Click and delivery event logs older than 24 months are deleted.

Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email — it takes effect immediately.
• Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by contacting us. If you ask us to delete everything, we keep only what's needed to make sure you are never emailed again.
• California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
